Air was cool and dry last night, and oh boy she/we liked it! :woohoo:

So, what carburetor adjustment(s) will make an engine run that way all the time?

I can say my bikes have always ran the best at closing time when I used to drink and frequent the bars. I couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground on my CB900F Super Sport. The cool / dense air, combined with the inebriated dense brain running with that liquid courage as a catalyst. That bike had the 1000 cc big bore kit and for the most part ran like $h!t on a warm / hot day, but toss back a few brewski's while ambient temps dropped, the bike was a freakin animal.

I never did get it to run good all of the time, after so many butchers had bastardized the bike, but it did run good for the 15 minutes out of a 24 hour day, when the only people on the streets are cops and drunks. :-)

Anymore stock works for me. :-)

It is like a supercharger or turbo charger pushing more oxyegn molecules into the engine to mix with the fuel. On a carb setup it leans out the fuel mixture... the famous last words are "lean is mean" just before you start to burn holes in pistons and break stuff.

Check out this thread Dave. I didn't read through very much of it, but it corresponds with what I always taught in college about the cool dense air thing.

This is a dropped valve on a XS1100 I bought years ago, but you get the idea. :-)

To replicate the same conditions you need to fit water/meth injection.
It works just as well on NA bikes as it does forced induction.

If it's not running great on really hot/humid days, leaning it a bit might make it run better. But you then run the risk of it running crappy in the cold. If it runs good on hot days, but the cooler night just seemed to have more oomph, then you best leave it.

I suppose you could install an air to water intercooler and run the lines through an ice bucket.

Wondered about placing some dry ice inside my air box, set where the stock air filter was located. Air drawn into the engine could be cooled just before entering the stacks. Probably freeze-dry the engine trying something like that.

The bike would be inhaling CO2 along with the air, reducing the O2 content.... the opposite of what you want.

In addition to the extra CO2, you would probable have trouble with icing carbs, frozen battery, and overly chilled man parts.
