Mine are VM26 SS and are stamped 108 over 9 and B8 over Y1. I was hoping they were 28's because they look exactly like Hardrockminer's.

Both the 108/9 and the 120/2 are vm26ss carbs that appear to have been stock on the 79 and 80 KZ1000 B models.

The '79 model (B3) came stock with VM26SS carbs.  Other models had 28's.  The '80 model (B4) came stock with VM28SS carbs.  All models in '80 had 28's.

I have measured mine.  I'm pretty sure they are 28's.

Hardrock. I just picked up a rack identical to yours. I'm assuming sense you paid WG to rebuild them they are worth it. I'm looking for something better then the stock 26mm on my '781000LTD. Bike has pods, 4 to 1 pipes, and Dyna S. Otherwise all stock

Just guessing, but I suspect you could pick up a set for around $300 to $400 but then you would have to rebuild them. Not a huge task though. WG did a great job on them back then but today I would do them myself. He lives on the opposite end of the continent from me so shipping is costly.

I guess I got a good deal then. I paid $210. shipped. They are I really good rebuildable shape. No corrosion in the bowls, nothing broken and I looked them over really well last night. Need new bowl screws, each bowl only had 2. Missing the pilot and main jets and one main jet bleed pipe. All that will come in a keyster kit except for the bleed pipe. Im sure that item isn't going to be hard to get. After rebuild I'll have about $450.00 into them. Will they be an improvement over the stock 26mm?

I have some info that indicates the ID stamped would make them from a 79 or 80 A series.

Where do I find the numbers. I looked them over really well last night and didn't see any?

I looked at Partzilla and the best match I found was 1980 LTD1000

Look on the front flange (see photo below) for the ID.

Which ones are better? Probably boils down to opinion. I like the 1980 VM28 model (with the pump) but I like the '76 model of the VM26's better. Mainly because they are simpler.

Hard rock miner, took your advise. Seeing how this wasn’t my first rebuild I figured what the heck and got started on the project. With help from another member ive selected a keystone kit and have them on order. I’m going to polish the top covers, and get new bowl and top cover screws
