Brazing is not typically done with aluminum. There are some special brazing alloys that allow some sort of brazing to be done but it's not the same as brazing in the typical sense like with steel. At any rate, I would NOT even try with a carb. The heat will just distort something and cause problems. A threaded insert install would be easy and that's the proper repair for that application. Where I work in the aerospace industry just about every threaded hole that's not in a steel part gets a steel helicoil installed. We do these all the time and it's very easy.
