Carburetor Fuel Tee Refurbishing

Hi all, I couldn't find a tips and tricks thread, so if there is one, mods, please direct me that way and we can delete this.

I've got a set of Mikuni bs34 carburetors, with fuel tees (aka fuel fittings or fuel pipes) that were worn down a bit and didn't come with any replaceable o-rings. The rubber sheathing around the metal interior was molded to resemble o-rings. Over time, these wore down and resulted in a less than snug fit. I googled around and found some replacements of various lengths, but many of them were aluminum and overpriced or just as worn out as mine and overpriced.

What I did was bought 4 o-rings per fuel tee, and cut the edge of the fuel tee's rubber sheathing off with a razor blade by rolling the tee under the blade. pulled that off and then slipped two o-rings on either side. the specific o-rings i bought for my fuel tees are O-Ring - 7.0mm x 2.0mm - Fuel Fitting - Viton, SKU: XVO-00700-200 @ Z1 Enterprises.

here's what it looks like. hopefully this helps someone down the road

On my project bike i have refurbishing the fuel tees, (2 piece of three way fuel pipe fitting), with a short piece of shrink tube.
I have renew them a decade ago but they are beginning to leak fuel.
The rubber "dry out" and shrink if no fuel flows through the fittings over a long time period.
I put them in fuel over several days to swollen up again but with no success.
2" of shrink tube and a heat gun do the job in 5 minutes to get a no leaking fuel carb set!!!

I've seen where guys cut off the fake o-ring bumps, down to the metal and install real o-rings. Personally though, I get or make new parts.

Can wrap the ridges with Teflon tape (white will work, but yellow is a little more fuel-proof) to tighten the fit.

Good Fortune! :)
