KZ1000 backfiring
22 Jun 2011 21:02
Hello,
I have a 78 KZ1000 and today it started backfiring and popping all the sudden. Then just as fast
as it started doing it, it went away. It did this 3 times and by the time I got home it was back to running normal. Any ideas as to what the problem is, or where to start looking would be appreciated.

Will shotgun a little bit ---
Would run some Seafoam carb cleaner in the fuel, install a fresh inline fuel filter, and assure valve clearances are within specs.
Check under the seat to assure nothing is obstructing the air box intake (if applicable).
Lube the ignition timing advancer.
Good Fortune!
