1978 KZ750 Twin Needle Jet Removal
10 Jun 2011 09:32
Hello all,
I almost have the carbs clean on my newly purchased KZ750 Twin. The only thing left to do is clean the needle jet (the brass tube with all of the holes that the jet needle resides in).
Can it be removed? Do I unscrew it? Pull it? How is it removed?
Once it is removed I was going to make sure all of tine holes allow light through. Is that sufficient?
Thanks,
G.

Here's one of several good sites with constant velocity carb information.

Those pictures dont help me. I have worked on tons of different carburetors, most of them CV. (XS650, XS1100, and XS400), however, I have never seen a neddle jet like the one on the KZ750 twin carburetor.
Generally, the need jet is in a hole and you can push it out after removing the jet needle.
For this carburetor I have removed the jet needle but I am unsure how to remove the needle jet. Does it push out? If so which way? Does it screw?
Thanks,
Adam

If all you're wanting to do is clean it couldn't you soak it in carb cleaner/seafoam? I recently bought the same model and year of bike and don't know too much but from what I've read giving it a good soak and then running seafoam through the first couple of tanks of gas should clean them out as long as they're not completely blocked to begin with.

I am reluctant to soak in carb cleaner because of the throttle shaft seals and choke parts. If I soak in the cleaner then I have to remove those parts which requires splittle the carbs which is extra work and probably unnecessary.

I never tried to remove them on mine. I would use a toothbrush and carb cleaner, then hose into the holes with carb spray (wear eye goggles). I have no idea how they come out. I think they are pressed in and not intended for removal.
You can take the top off and remove the slide and squirt cleaner down through the top and also clean from the outside underneat.
