I was reading this post on-line about swollen/ shrunken CV diaphragms:
vmaxoutlaw.com/tech/diaphram_maintenance.htm
Never tried it as I have not had that trouble. Be careful what you put on them.
1 helpful thing I do is to make the diaphragm into a umbrella/ parachute shape. Hold the slide in 1 hand, and hold it up in the bore with the other keeping that shape. Gets the round area to stay in the groove better. Keep that upward pressure and put the spring and cap on. Hold down on the cap, then release the upward pressure and fit the screws.
You can check both the top of the carb and the base of the cap for flatness. Also once the screws are tight you can lift up on the slide with your finger over the signal hole, it should be firm. Then let it go up and hold your finger litely over the hole and it should stay there. Then snap it from full up, to down. All 4 should snap down the same, to bottom.

Shizz,
A couple of years ago I took apart some ZRX carbs, which are about 18 years younger than your KZ305's CV carbs. The diaphragms looked the same as what your picture shows. I was careful about removing the diaphragms and reinstalling them. No problems.

I will get some pics up today...if I can find the camera.
I don't know that they are not broken. I have never driven another KZ1100 so I really don't know if it is giving all the power it is capable of.

Well, they look remarkably like the pic above.
I can't find the camera to show you guys though.
I think I am just going to leave them be for now. It's not like I'm racing the bike or anything, so even if it's not perfect it's good enough for now.
If it ain't broke don't fix it, right? Well they seem to seal around the edge fine, and the bike moves pretty good.
To answer my question, NO for now

Just for reference, I have no idea how old the diaphragms are in my picture. They may have 29 years and 7000 miles on them, like the bike, or they may have been replaced somewhere in the first 28 years and 5000 miles before I got it. Its nice to know they look good to some of you-they were the first two I ever saw so I had nothing to compare to. When shizzo said "wrinkled" thats just what I thought of. Mine seated perfectly and did not seem impaired in any way.

And that's exactly what I though 8 years ago when I first took mine apart but they fit good and the bike runs good and I have no complaints and like shizzomynizzo say - if it aint broke dont fix it

Blow into the half moon shaped holes on the airbox side of the carbs. If the slides blow upward then they are good.
