 can we use any inline fuel filter, like say one for a push behind lawn mower, as i don't have much space to work with, 79 kz750 gravity fed fuel system. right now its spitting sputtering, and being a general pain in the ass, thank you

Paper filters, meant for cars with fuel pumps, have been very problematic lately. They used to work fine, but now they mysteriously clog up even though they look new.

You should be able to use any metal-screen or scintered brass/bronze type gravity filter.

I've seen them at both, but some lawn equipment filters may not flow enough.

I get mine online.

Z1 enterprises has an assortment of 1/4" filters.

I need 5/16 on my bikes. I use these two types:

Dennis Kirk has 1/4" and 5/16" and many varieties.

My 78 KZ 1000 had limited room for filters. I extended the fuel line, wrapped it around the intake boot and used a 90 degree fuel filter. So far, has been working great.
