4 into 1 V&H, pod filters, cv34's

csr1000, 4 into 1 V&H, cv34 carbs, K&N pods. finally got my new header! my bike has the mikuni cv34's. bike ran amazing before the header. It runs amazing after untill I get to between 1/2 to 3/4 throttle (usually about 4500 rpm's in 2nd gear) from what I understand this is a main jet issue, based upon the knowledge that different parts of the carb supply gas at diff throttle positions and NOT rpm's. I went one up on the pilot to 40 and one up on the main to 127.5. bike was running rich. i could make it through the rev band with it breaking up so I'm assuming not terribly bad. then last night I decided to check the fuel/air screw (fas), from what i understand the stock setting is between 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns out. they were all adjusted to more than 4 turns out!! I understand that the fas can effect lean/rich mix throughout throttle position but I'm wondering how much? and if 3 turns back in towards lean ( to the stock setting) might do the trick. I am also wondering if I should either clean or replace the plugs after every carb adjustment? I'd hate to hit it dead on and not even know it cause I have fouled out plugs. from what i understand it is def a main jet issue, but I know that the stock main can't be right unless I try to have the fas all the way out to rich. whatta u guys think?
