Man I have done everything you guys have said to do and my 78 kz650 is running NICE. However. I noticed as bike was turned off and on kick stand a few of overflow hoses were leaking a good amount of gas? Dirty floats? I just put tank back on. Haven't dipped it yet. Also put new bars on. I think I need new throttle cables. Could cable be pinched causing throttle to stay open and cause bowls to fill up?

your floats if set right should stop too much fuel from getting into the carb have you done a fuel level check also make sure you turn your petcock off if its bad can let fuel keep running

--- Imo, that's not the problem.

Dirty floats? --- One likely cause (amongst several other possible causes.)

Would also consider float malfunction for whatever reason (such as damaged, bent, sticking, leaking, etc.)

And possibility of cracked overflow tube.

Good Fortune! :)

Could try running some SeaFoam in the fuel, which might help clear any crud that's interfering with proper operation of the float valves. :)

Probably dirty float valves. The good news is you can drop the bowls and clean the valve orifices and needles without removing carbs. Use a q-tip and carb cleaner; use nothing abrasive! Ed

What I used to do is hold a clean white cloth under the carb with the bowl off, turn the gas on and see if any gunk comes out. You will see it in the cloth. And put a in line filter in and you should be good.
