kz750 fuel level switch leaks...repair options

part no. is 27010-1055.

When I put my bike back together, the fuel switch leaked from the inner seal around the switch itself - may have been handled roughly while parts were stored.

I don't think the switch worked to begin with, and I really don't need it, so now Im looking for options from someone who may have done this. Here's what I'm thinking:

Option 1 is to plug the hole in the mount plate for my old switch and make it a blockoff plate. Im not clear on exactly what would be a safe way to do this. I thought about making a small rubber stopper or maybe using some two-part compound.

Option 2 is to try and find a pingel adapter that will work and plug it with a pipe plug or rubber cap. I like the idea of having a plug that will thread up.

Option 3 is a "new" switch I found on ebay that doesn't look new at all.

Ill keep toiling for an answer while this percs.

Thanks a ton,
