today i got a chance to work on my bike , if you all rember the last 10 topics i finaly got my bike fixed ,i don't under stand why some one would take the needel jets out of the carbs especially that there is nothing wrong with the things , as you might be able to tell my problem lied in the needel jets , yes you got it the guy i hired to do my carbs put them in backwards!!! i am so happy, now i just have to put the rest of my bike togther so i can finaly ride it.i would like to thank everyone who offered me advise on my problem . thanks.

I had a guy (supposed profressional) put my main needle holder in updside down on my 550 carbs. When I tried to get the SOB out (he must have wedged it in there) it cracked the whole carb body around where the holder seats. Crappy part is he usually does great work and good prices...no more for me though.

no saddly it wasn't that easy it was the things that the needels on the slides pass through and the main jets are on the bottom, mine have a knotched out part on them ,(half is out of the carb boddies) i didn't know the correct orientation of them , to be honest i didn't think that the things where moved , as manny times that i took the carbs appart i didn't see that they where in wrong , i never would have removed them .

Yes, on some carbs, the needle jet can be flipped upside down. Here, on the tk-22 Apbling was talking about, if you flip it upside down, the emulsifier tube no longer seals on the needle jet, which leads to too much air going up the needle. Also, the needle will interfere with the opening such that the slide may not go down all the way to the idle setting.
