KZ750 Twin + POD FILTERS=Impossible carb setting??

I just recently bought a 1978 KZ750 Twin, and I have a couple questions for you guys! I hope someone will drop their wisdom on me.

This bike as a crappy airbox, just horrible. Cracked + holes!

I'd like to put some pod filters from K&N on my bike but looking around these forums the general consensus seems to lean towards that if I do it I'll never be able to get my carbs set correctly. I hope this isn't the case. I really like the look of filters, and it would save me so much space for wiring.

Please help!

Its kind of yer pays yer nickle and takes your chances. Yes you can get a good running bike with pods. Yes it can be some trouble to get a good running bike. You may also experience some drawbacks such as wind or turbulence causing lean outs. You may also experience flat spots or dropoffs in your powerband... you may also experience some gains as well. Some guys love the fiddeling almost as much as they love the riding. Some don't. One thing I think I can say for sure is if you go to pods you will get to know your carbs a little better. How did your airbox get so trashed?
Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

I probably have a spare air box somewhere if you decide to go that route.

If you're going with individual filters (pods) then you really need to go to the Kawasaki twins owners forum and search for jets info. Those BS38 jets are not easy to find.

You might be able to get pods to run sorta OK across most of the rev range. I never tried it on my 750 twin. I know the airflow won't match the needle taper which is made to match the airflow of the stock setup. I would obtain an airbox. The dismantlers can get you one if necessary, shouldn't cost too much.

If you do go with pods you need a physical support to keep from cracking the intake manifolds (carb mounts).

The guy I bought it from couldn't exactly explain how that happened. It really looks like someone was taking shots at it with a pellet gun or something!

I found a really great airbox off of craigslist, I still want to try the K&N Filters though.. @Stell - You don't think Z1Enterprizes will have them?
