Vacuum leak?
19 Apr 2011 20:32Attachment IMG00145-20110407-1437.jpg not found
Hello all,
Noob here. just pulled my brothers 82 Kz750-n1-spectra out of the garage after its 2yr hiatus. Wanted to get it running again so I started with the standard tune up, New battery, plugs, air filter, oil/filter. Got the beast running!!! BUT... when i start it cold it wont stay at idle. I can ride it choked for a wile (10miles) then turn the choke off and it will stay idling. i know its a cold blooded animal but it shouldnt take that long to warm up. I pulled the new plugs and they are white. Leading me to believe there is mixture issue? i sprayed starter fluid around the carb area and the engine reved up. so i replaced all the vacuum lines and checked the "boots" going from the carbs to the air cleaner and to the engine. still have a idle issue. i didnt replace boots... if they feel and look fine should i replace them??
sorry for the rookie mistakes...this is a rambling cry for help. any advice would be greatly appreciated

well if your boots are leaking air will need replaced.
sounds like pilot circut is junked up try half bottle of Sea-Foam and see what happens but if your boots are leaking all bets are off.

I actually ran about a half bottle of sea-foam through the tank. Im planning on putting the other half in when i refill the tank. If it was the boots why would it eventually hold an steady idle? And where do you recommend I get new boots?

All your parts needs.
I replaced my boots today. They are less than ten years old.
I would just ride the bike a few more miles.
If you haven't cleaned the jets out you might consider that. Roy

Im also under the assumption i have a blown head gasket because i have oil all over jugs. Would this cause bad idle?
