Petcock

I have a 78 KZ 650 and I need a replacement petcock. Kawasaki does not make one anymore. What can I do to get this problem fixed? The outlet valve on the petcock has separated and right now JB Weld is holding it togeather for the time being. It is working but I don't want to take any chances.

Have you checked at Z1Enterprises.com? They have a number of aftermarket petcocks. Is it a vacuum type or gravity?

Not sure if your 78 has a vacuum petcock but something I learned from 81 1000 ltd with vacuum was that Mike's XS sells a manual petcock for a 1978-84 Yamaha Part #20-0019 it was a direct bolt on for my bike .Was $44 plus shipping. Had same gasket and bolt spacing and came with filters to put on spouts up in tank.

A lot of people have just JB welded it in. Done properly it is a permanet repair. I tapped mine and screwed a 90* elbow in with yellow teflon tape and it's working fine. I also believe you can still buy one as they used them on the KZ1000P up until 2005. They are about $80 or so.
