Scratches on slides (BS34)

Are scratches on the slides bad? Theyre not deep gouged or anything but I was going to gently smooth em down. You can't hook a nail or anything, just didn't know if it affected the operations of them. And do you lube the slides during reasssembly? Yeah I know....another noob notch in the belt... Oh, and bike ran smooth except on deceleration. When I come to a stop, the bike runs high (2k maybe) for like five seconds then returns to idle. I checked the throttle cable to make sure i wasnt getting hung up and I have about a 1/4" of slack in the throttle. Any clues on where to start? Again running pods and 4n1 V&H on a J2. Thanks.

Smoothing down okay but usually not necessary.

Do not lube the slides.

Check function of advancer unit, which may need lube.

Good Fortune! :)

Pardon my noobness but where is this advancer unit located? Is it the thing that has the throttle cable linkage that operates the carbs in unison? If not then where...
