Quick float height question
07 Mar 2011 18:22
I have looked, but there seems to be a few different responses as far as float height. I am about to get the carbs set up and tuned. What would be the ideal measurement for the floats during a wet test in distance from the carb body?

I see what you mean, on the link provided by Patton (thanks btw!) it seems the fuel level is at the bottom edge of where the screws go into the float bowls. That is what you are meaning right stone?

Wow that is a neat setup, any idea exactly what the sizes and such were for the fittings?

is there a substiute that can be used instead of gas for bench setting the level? dry gas? mineral spirits? does anyone use something other than gas? or is it best to just use gas?

A substitute would need to have the same specific gravity (relative density) as gasoline or the floats would float at a different level giving an inaccurate reading. I don't know of any other fluid (hopefully one that’s not flammable) with the same specific gravity as gasoline. Maybe someone well versed in chemistry can chime in. Ed
