Sorry, Did not mean to imply the need for larger carbs... I'm just "partial" to CV's. One thing that's seldom if ever mentioned is the "How much throttle" us old-timers employ without even thinking about. It's a "fine line" between max. acceleration and the loss of for better discription "intake man.vaccumn". or the point where wrist out runs "engine"... & my experiance is that it requires @ 1200 ccs & "flow" work to make "36mm Slingshot's" work. I strongly believe in the axiom " no replacement for displacement", BUT ALSO believe it's only a Part of the equasion. processing air is probly equal to displacement in the quest for making serious HP, and finding the balance is the key. i remember everybody in high school telling me i was nuts when i told them they were over carbing there little stock 350s with headers and sticking highrise intakes with holley 750 doublepumpers backed up with stock cams and no compression!
well actually i was nuts, but it was for differant reasons! :woohoo:
they did have one spot at around 4500-5000 where they would sound good in neutral, but as soon as youd put them in gear and try to go those stock torque convertors and 2 series gears in open rearends were real heartbreakers!
gotta have matched real world combination built around what youre trying to accomplish B)
