can't find any rubber hoses
06 Feb 2011 11:05
I recently started clean up my carbs (1981 kz650 csr)after rejetting. I'm going through trying to replace all the vacuum lines and fuel lines. I'm having trouble finding hose that is mall enough, and flexible enough for the carburettor drain hoses. I've been to a few auto stores, and local motorcycle shops but haven't had any luck. Where do you guys get all your hoses when you rebuild your carbs, I know you dont reuse them
.
Thanks
Thanks

Windshield washer hoses will work, if you don't mind the color of light blue, the flying model airplane guys have silicone tubing of many diameters.

A lawn mower shop might have the needed size, but that might get a bit pricy.
How about a hardware store?

Home stores used to carry really small diameter urethane fuel line for lawn equipment. I've used them for drain lines and breather lines, but don't use them for fuel or vacuum. Fuel makes them brittle and crack, and they don't seal well enough for vacuum.

If you have a "Polaris" dealer near you, stop in & ask... Their 4 wheelers & snowmobles use the same stuff, & sell by 25 ft roll. most places will sell by the ft. if not. aquarium shops will have the right size but doesn't last..G

The stuff I use is black, comes in a 2M / about 6 feet pack and is gas and oil resistant. Lasts 2 -3 years.
I cant remember the diameter... thinking something like 5/32. Small enough so that I never need a hose clamp.

A local shop a friend owns has primer hose that is the perfect size for overflow lines. The nice thing is that it comes in a couple of colors and the blue stuff looks baddass on my blue bike! They have fuel line to match. I'm surprised you local bike shops don't carry anything. Mechanics go through tons of the stuff.

All bike shops carry it you just have to ask for it. The one I use has it in like 5 or 6 different colors.
