I have my carbs off of my 1982 KZ750 LTD for a cleaning . They look bad . I think I might need to replace the jets . This bike has not ran in over 2 years . Where would be a good place to start looking for jets ? I do wont to keep it stock .

Z1 Enterprises has jets. If the carbs are really ugly, you might be better off getting rebuild kits that have jets and gaskets.

I'd go ahead and soda blast em and just do a total rebuild, do it right the first time and not worry bout it

The carbs on my project bike sat for 19 years in a garage. Everything was fused together. Everything was salvageable though (minus the gaskets and o-rings of course) with carb cleaner, compressed air, and a lot of patience. Also, I used some plastic toothpicks you can pick up at most store. They have short plastic bristles which seemed to work quite well on the jets and were not effected by carb cleaner.

Just poke through the jets with a bristle from a steel brush and drop them in a bucket of Berryman Chem-dip.

Soda blast is good for the rest, or drop all the metal in the chem-dip till its new.

MOST IMPORTANT PART: Use a good pressurized carb cleaner to squirt the cleaner (via the straw) through all the jet passages in the carb. Look down the bore of the carb while spraying up the pilot passages (with glasses on of course) and make sure to visually verify that the cleaner is cleanly spraying out all the small openings in the carb. It should be nice and free flowing and look the same from carb to carb.

use good rebuild kits and they will be as good as new or better.

Best luck!

I am going to Z1 for the gasket kits . I did not know they handled the jets . I did get all of the Secondary main jets out . They did not look good at all but after a good cleaning they might be ok . I am not having any luck getting the Primary Main loose and I think I might have to mess them up just to get them out . I will keep working at them . Thanks for the help .

Soak them in a good penetrant, or a mixture of 1/2 auto trans fluid and 1/2 acetone.
