After 10 years in storage, I would check to see if you are getting the full battery voltage to the coils. Also check the spark plug caps resistance too. The key/ign switch could be bad as well. Were it my bike I would clean all the wiring connects. Also are you totally sure the carbs are completely clean?

BJ I just found this thread:
www.yamahaclub.com/forums/topic/17140-ne...6-radian-idle-noise/
Sounds like the primary drive is a chain, and it can rattle at idle. Apparently Radians are sensitive to carb sync, and according to that thread, the idle should be 1100 rpm. Good luck tomorrow.

Can't speak for the Yami but in my KZ900 had a similar situation where weirdest noise ever... Sent the AVI clip w/audio to Lar and Plumi... Both replied with "well that's a first"
Best description was a loud squishing/swirling sound off the valve cover... Visual inspection all good, bike ran well but for the intermittent noise... It was loud enough to hear over the Kerker even...
Anyhoot, off to HF Tools for a $5 Stethoscope...
Followed it all the way down to the oil pump where it got real loud... Damn noise was vibrating/traveling up the timing chain channel and resonating in the valve cover area....
E-bay, $25 oil pump haven't heard it since....
Best $5 I ever spent...

Ok gents, spent this AM with the bike.Pulled the clutch basket again(Im gettin good at this),rechecked, retightened and reinstalled.Ran a quick check on battery, fuses, switches and all seems well.Drained oil, installed new filter, refilled with 15-40 Rotella and some Seafoam.Pulled valve cover, rechecked chain and guides, some wear but not outside spec.Pulled carbs, cleaned, reinstalled.Started bike ,warmed it up,set idle at 1100RPM.NO rattle.if RPM falls below 1000,bike rattles so I assume the slide valves are the culprit (or maybe the primary) and as long as idle is set right and bike is pulling a bit of a load against the slides-no noise. Thanks all for the tips and time.Ride on and be safe.bj

Bravo! That's how you do it boys. Identify problem. Scratch head. Ask for opinions. Consider the opinions. Develop a plan. Work the plan. Fix motorcycle. Doesn't seem too hard.

Kinda off topic, but my Grandpa gave me my first pocket knife, first fishing pole, first bicycle, and so much more. I'll never forget the man, made me what I'm today I suppose.
If you can hang on to it, might be a great Birthday present in a couple years.
