carburator boot

Hello every one, i am attempting to fit mikuni 34mm carbs on an 81 Kawa 1100GPZ. I got 4 new rubber manifolds but the bolt holes are too wide for my cylinder head, i was told that what i got were for the KZ1000. Has any one here put 34mm carbs on a B1 GPZ1100? and if so how did u deal with the carb intake boot.

markalign, I don't have any personal experience on this issue, but I believe that you may need to slot the holes in the boot with a small file. Others here will chime in, but you may need to edit your title for maximum effect. Most of us here refer to the part in question as a "carburetor BOOT" and not a "carburetor BOOTH." Some may dismiss your post and pass by when they have the experience in this matter.

Click the edit button at the bottom right of your post and simply correct the spelling. Good luck, and I hope this helps. At the very least you get a free bump out of me.

I believe that the GPZ1100 has different heads since it's fuel injected.

Reread original post and you could be right since the '81 had the injectors in the head and the smaller throotlebodies

Well i used my dremel with a mill bit and got the boots to fit properly, i also had to do quite a bit of connector cleaning, especially ground lugs. After doing that all dash lights worked and the engine turned over very well. It could not start as i had not yet installed the carburators as i have to block off the injector ports which i will do tomorrow. The last time this bike ran was back in 1994 so its a complete restoration thats being done. Its really turned into a labour of love. Once i get it started and charging and other electrics sorted i will remove all unessary wires from the now abondoned fuel injection system. I gave up on the injector system early today when i checked the wire going to the temp sensor and saw 9V,wokshop manual has a value of 5V, sure signs of a fried ECM, decided at that time that the carbs were a must.I am thinking of using the ZRX front brake master cylinder and throttle cable assembly as i need a push pull system with the mikunis, any better ideas are welcome.
