Air box question

Hi. I have an '82 Spectre 750 with an empty air box. I plan on putting K&N back in, but don't have the bottom gasket or the plastic holder piece.

My question is: Should I go with OEM and the K&N filter, or does anyone have a better idea that doesn't involve removing the air box? I am not a mechanic.

Well I mentioned that i have 82 750 but I don't have air box. The bike came with pods. Now i run it with K&N pods.So I really can't give any suggestion. But many members here will tell you to keep air box.

Howdy. Since you aren't a mechanic, stick w the stock airbox. You can probably get the needed stuff on ebbaayy.

The cross-reference at Kawasaki.com will show that a bunch of bikes have some of the same airbox parts. Here's a filter holder - KZ650 GENUINE INLET PIPE HOLDER .

I believe the gasket is either felt or foam. If it's nla at the dealer, you could probably come up with something. Or find one on ebbaayy - either new, nos, or used.

Also, supposedly, the Kaw dealers have a nationwide parts lookup, so if a dealer in Timbucktoo happens to have something you need, your local place might be able to get it sent over to their shop.

I have the same bike "83" model by the Gold N Black paint job.
Ran a K&N filter for two years without any draw backs on breathing.:)
Hence you don"t need the filter reinforcement basket for the soft OEM sponge style.
Hope this helps.
