Throttles Cables

Getting ready to order some new throttle cables, and was looking at the Dennis Kirk catalog and came across something i never heard before. There in there calbe section, it says that they have Special cables for smoothbore carburator. Do you need the special smoothbore cables to get maxium performance out or the carbs. I have 29 smoothbores and I want to make sure that this is not something just to get a few extra few dollars out of the paying customer. If anyone has the catalog look at the bottom of pg579. Someone chime in and let me know what you think. Thx in advance for your help.

i think they are talking about a different make of smoothbores....all you need for a 29 smoothbore is the one pull cable...if mikuni smoothbores is what you have...

the trick easy set up is just one well lubed cable...stock kz cable....and you will be perfect.....

Gremlin, There is no "performance" to be gained or lost in cables..however, there IS usually a difference in the inner to outer cable lengths from stock to 29smoothies. and my experiance is that to make a 2 cable system both "crisp" and "free" one or the other of the OE outer sheaths need to be trimmed to allow for proper "action/adjustment" with 29's. free running cables properly routed & adjusted allow the carbs to snap shut regardless of bar location with a minimum of "freeplay", Crisp controls are a high priority to me. luck G

the carb has two throttle cables going to them, A and B, push and pull. does it had to be KZ throttle cabble or will any type do as they do ask for alot of money for each as they are not sold as pairs for the KZ400. lol.
