Couple of Questions

Couple of questions about a 73 Z1
I want to disconnect the chain oiler because of the mess. Will it cause any harm to the pump to clean out the reservoir tank and not fill it, leave it dry.
While cleaning out the carbs should I apply a little light oil to the slides and the rotating parts in the top cap, does anything need lubing in the carbs.

Just take the pump off.
As far as I know, no lube is needed in the carbs.
