'75 Z1 Carb rebuild/ tune

So I've come to the realization that I'll never get my Z1 restoration running right until I have the carbs properly rebuilt. Whenrunning on full choke, aside from high idle, it runs great; however if I drop the choke to even half, it bogs out. I'm assuming this means it isn't getting enough fuel, and it is extremely likely seeing as how the tank sat for 2 years, and the pecock is in bad shape. The Jets were custom tuned years ago for the individual K&N's as well as Kerker racing exhuast. I also think a float is sticking. Everybody I've found can rebuild and bench tune them to factory, but I really need to save money, while keeping the cutom tuning job. Does anybody know who or where I can take them to get his kind of treatment for a decent price? I'm currently in the Northern VA Area, but am more than happy to ship them off for the right treatment of my baby's congested lungs;)

Ha! That I've done, and all passages seem to be very clear; however the problem is still there. The float bowl gaskets seem to be in good shape, but the top cover gaskets are not. I've beent old these gaskets are not too important, but honestly am not good enough with carbs to know. Everything else has been done to ensure a clean running engine, this is the last step that I'd rater have professionally done. Any idears?

its going to be next to impossible for anybody to tune your carbs perfectly unless theyre right in your area with your bike in front of them, too many variables in altitude and temps and things like that. :(

That's kind of what I had figured. A friend recommended a set of balancers with four tubes, but even that is something over my head. Thanks for the advice! Hopefully somebody in VA will know of somebody. The local dealer I bought my Concours from has some good tecs, but they don't like getting into older bikes becausethey usually end up finding multiple problems.

Pilot circuit passages likely remain clogged. :pinch:

Fuel level may be too low. Would perform clear tube test.

Until corrected, final fine tuning will be futile.

Good Fortune! :)

Wow, gooooood deal! I'll follow all your cleaning instructions this week and give it a try. I know I need to get a pecock and in line filter, but I will at least be able to find out if there is anything wrong, or I just didn't clean them well enough the first time around. In all honesty, I was really excited to get her running again :)
