on my 76 kz900, going by all the carb ID info I can find, it seems these are 26s but the PO said they were 29s....

Thanks!

In these discussions there should be the i.d. to your carbs.

They are not 29's. Roy

Lets sees a picture from the other side. Does there appear to be an accelerator pump attached to the bottom of the #2 carburetor? It looks like you have the crossover tubes in the float bowls for the accelerator pump. If that is the case then you have VM28ss carbs from a KZ1000. I have no experience with the pumpers, but I hear that they are a little tougher to tune with. I searched around wiredgeorge's site and the only reference to a 113 1 stamp number was a VM28ss.

They also made a 26 pumper. I just shipped my 26 and 28 pumpers off and can't check numbers.

I would agree they are not 29's. Remove the carbs and measure the ID of the intake side that mounts to the boots to be absolutely sure.

My 28's have the air/fuel mixture on the bottom and my 24's on my 650 have the air/fuel on the side but the barrels have ribs. I believe the 29's are on the side too like yours but the bowls on yours are not of the 29's.

Thanks guys!
It does have accel pumps. I wll post another shot of the other side. I have a cheapo caliper, I dont have a repair manual for this bike so I was hesitant to just start jumping in and taking stuff apart. Ive rebuilt/rejetted carbs sucessfully before so that doesnt intimidate me at all.
Thanks

On the early ones they will fit I think but I could be wrong but the later ones you had to use the bowls with the big nut on the bottom. Thats why I told him to measure the intake throat to be sure.

Most likely 26's if stock. 29mm. smoothbores have the 17mm. drain cap on the float bowl bottom, like the oem 28mm. carbs from a '73 Z1. In 1974 Kawasaki put the 28's with the drain screw bowl as pictured above on the Z1.
