pilot jet plug
14 Aug 2010 17:18
I have a 1980 kz 1000 ltd. Replaced vm28 mikunis with bs34mm mikunis. Do all bs34 carbs have the plugs for the pilot jets. these carbs are originally off of a 1984 gpz 750. I have a vance & hines megaphone pipe and uni filter foam pods. The bs carb I rejetted to 140 mains and 40 pilot jets .The kz idles very good and top end is awesome but I have a major stumble between 3000 to 4000 rpm. the carbs did not have the pilot jet plugs in them when I rebuilt them so I figured it didnt take plugs. Ive tried the needle in all the different positions no difference and went up and down on main jets each way no difference. Would it even run without pilot jet plugs? Have also played with pilot screw no difference. Any help appreciated

If you look down the hole where the pilot goes and you see a small hole in the side of the tube there needs to be a plug.
If no tiny hole you are good to go. Roy
