float needle

float needle

I just opened up carbs and found something wierd, on 1 & 4 there is a wire attached to the float needle and hooked to the tang, on 2 & 3 the needle has a small spring loaded plunger and is not attached to the tang, WTF I dont see how this is working, given what the PO has done so far I'm not surprised, Experts ????

float raises needle up/down,clip just holds it from falling out

do they open/close with the float?

one wasnt for sure because I wasa getting overflow, guess I'll jus rebuild em all and be done with it
