KZ650 Idle thumb screw
09 Jun 2010 11:01
I have a 78 KZ650 which is in great shape and runs very well. When it's warm, it's idling at around 1600rpm and the manual and everything I read online is telling me it should idle at 950-1050. Could someone please tell me the location of the Idle thumb screw? Or is it more complicated then that?

Check between the two centre carburetors near the bottom on the side opposite to the engine.

Depending on the state of tune of your engine, the warm idle speed will vary. Under "perfect" conditions the idle speed is about 1000rpm. My bike likes to idle at about 1200-1400rpm's. You'll find that your motor won't idle that low. See where it wants to be.
