:(
Please help!! I have a 74 400 that i, (w/ a bit of help from the hubby) am trying to cleanup to get running--it hasn't been driven in close to 8 yrs, and i'm working on the carburetor, and i CANNOT get the float bowl pins loose!! Besides soaking them in WD-40, can someone please offer suggestions?

A tiny drift punch wroks, if you could secure the carbs good and get a straight shot at the pins they should come out.

Thanks, but I don't have one of those. I've also read about boiling it in water--has anyone else heard that?

Do you mean boil in Lemon juice? Be very careful not to break one of the posts the pin goes through they can snap and the carb is ruined ask me how I know :(

A small phillips screwdriver could be substituted for a drift just be careful and precise and tap lightly.

Try some tranny fluid if you have some laying around the garage

I hadn't heard of lemon juice--it was water I heard, but I am unsure of the exact process he was speaking of...I will try tranny fluid next...

First mix the ATF with acetone 50-50. Let soak a long time. A day or so isn't too long.

Good Fortune! :)

Thanks for the suggestions--I finally got them off today! I was heading to the boiling process, but I thought i'd give it a few wacks first (after soaking for 2 days altogether) and they SLOWLY slide right out! My motivation has returned!
