Float level check question

Where should I be holding the clear tube to check float levels? At the red line? Or towards the engine or airbox?

I would try getting the carb totally vertical instead of sloping like it is in your pic. If the float bowl is flat, it shouldn't matter where your tube is...

I'm new to this, but that's what makes sense to me.

Looks like a very clean motor - at least from the small section in the photo.

I vote for red line

You might be interested in www.kz400.com/ which has tons of info on the 400 and 440 and was set up by Odd Ivar Bekelund a member here who passed away a few years ago.
