Decent replacement for Keihin CV34's?

My '83 KZ750-4 has ther Keihin CV34's on it, and I keep reading that they are junk. Indeed, I am having problems with them (basically they are worn out). What have you folks been using for replacements? Thanks!

By the way, a few years ago I saw a similar bike (though chopped) that had the 4 carbs removed and replaced with a (probably home made) manifold to a single carb! Ran good. Anyone done this...or even seen something like this?

Some guys here like the Keihins, personally I am not one of them. You can replace them with a set of Mikuni BS34s if you don't want to go with an expensive set of aftermarket carbs. The only time I have ever seen a single carburetor conversion was with a turbocharger. I am not saying though that a single carburetor setup could not be done. Since such conversion has never been done by the Super-Tuners to my knowledge, I am inclined to think that there would be a performance loss.

Yeah. BS34s were on the later 750/4s

A member here did run a KZ650 (I think) on a single carb and posted pics and results but it's a long time ago. Possibly so long ago that it was on the old site. I cant remember who it was. Also the carb.... may have been an SU from an old volvo. The only thing I remember for sure is that he made the manifold from copper pipe. Perhaps some else will remember. :)

Was there ever an aftermarket fuel injection setup for the 750-4's? Or has anyone tried to make one?

There has not been an off the shelf FI system made for these bikes but people have made or adapted systems for them. I am doing a couple of systems right now. Two for 1100s and one for a ZR750 Zephyr.
