Mikuni BS32mm Carbs
31 Mar 2010 06:22
I had a set of 34's off a xs1100 that I considered keeping and converting to a KZ app but would needed a good substitute to sell the bike so I decided to leave them be. Parting out a 1984 fj600 now so the 32's that it came with are a good option to convert. Spacing is different but I figure I could either re-drill the 2 exsisting angled brackets or make new ones. Cable end would need slight mod as well. 32's were on some 750's but I would put this set on my 650 using the stock air box. Does this seem like a worth while project. Denver elevation 5200 ft so thin air may be a factor in tuning.

There is a lot more to it than remounting on different angle brackets. Especially if you have to put any of them closer together. The carbs would be nice on a 650 if you do some good head work. Otherwise you are just wasting your time. A stock 650 could never use all the air efficiently. There is a HUGE difference between a KZ650 and 750 when it comes to breathing.

Thanks Otto, that's what I needed to know. I knew it would be a step up but I was thinking that since they came off a 600 they might be a good match.

The '82 650H2 and '83 650H3 came with BS32 carbs stock.
The airbox ducts are larger than the earlier 650s.
Seems to be the only difference to the earlier 650s, other than also having the HyVo cam chain and the '82~'83s are advertised as having 5 more HP.
