runs on full choke only

Tried starting the 900 motor after new top end,rings valve job.
new to me 28mm carbs were eBay item. I complelty cleaned and installed correct stock jets.
Bike starts seems to run good but will not run when you take it off full choke,instintly shuts down when you start to take it off choke
any advice appreciatied

Yep, sounds like you've got a blockage in your idle circuit.

I had a similar problem, and discovered that the problem was being caused because I forgot to remove one of the die-cut punch-outs on new float bowl gaskets I installed. This blocked one of the passages for the idle circuit. After removing the punch-out, it worked fine.

thanks for the tip. Now I need to make sure I have the correct pilots. Long barrel or short barrel ??
