Free Carb Tool for 29 Smoothbore test.

I need someone with a set of 29 smoothbore carbs that is willing to test out a new tool for setting the service fuel level. (Float Level) It screws into the drain plug hole in the bottom. If you send me your address, I will send you a free one for letting me know how it works. All I have is the 17mm plug. I don't have a bowl to test it on. I would like to buy a bowl if anyone has one. :) you can send your info to: dshelly37@netzero.com Thanks

Sounds interesting. Is it a clear tube checked after full of fuel from outside or touch the floats somehow. I built one that uses the clear tube type B)

It's machined from solid Brass. Since I don't have this type of bowl I need someone to see if it works ok. Comes with a piece of clear fuel line so you can see the fuel level.
I'd buy some carbs to try it but they are way to expensive.

Works really well. Dave makes them for almost all the KZ & Suzuki carbs and is on Ebay. Very nicely made, well worth the money. Im trying to get him to make them for early Z1 carbs too.

All u need to do is buy a brass fitting. Male thread on 1 end, nipple on the other. Just drill and tap a bowl drain plug, and u are all set.
1 thing that u need to do when in use is to make sure u put a mark on the tube. This makes sure that u always place the same amount of tube below each bowl. If u do not, u will have more or less fuel in the tube each test. This will change the amount of fuel in the bowl and the test results will be inaccurate.
hope this helps.

Sounds like you were absent during science class. Ever heard of gravity? Once you have the tube in place when you turn the fuel on. It will always come back to the same place no matter how much of the tube is below the bowl. You just need to start with an empty bowl.
Also by the time you Buy the brass fitting, the tap and the drill , and take the time to make it. You could have bought one.

my point is merely to be accurate . by marking the hose, this will ensure u do not put different amounts of fuel into a longer (or shorter) length of hose, and therefore less fuel will be in the bowl. If u take some more fuel from the bowl (by using a longer tube length) the float seals may not open. Therefore the level will be dif.
U must maintain the same amount of fuel in the tube (and bowl) at all times.
I have done this myself, of course, and found that u can waste time, chasing the float level around..
Some people are satisfied with a “that’s close enough ” attitude. I am not 1 of them.
