HELP or i think im screwed....

Ok i bought some new intake boots so i figured i would take the old ones off of my current kz1000 while i wait for the new ones. Well the screws are stuck and i mean STUCK. Tried an impact screwdriver vise grips and not one came off. So a guy is gonna try to handle them at a dealership that works on these old kz's. Any tips for me to try again?

There are numerous things that could help, I've had good success with PB Blaster and an impact driver. Those screws can really take a set in the aluminum, I also replaced my screws with some stainless steel hex head, not like I'll ever remove them, but at least I can if I need to.

Sure it looks OK now, but wait until I really make it pretty, with some chrome and paint and some new tires and grips and the wiring. Don't forget the gearing, and the LED's and, and, and....

Squirt them with PB Blaster and put your carbs back on so you can run the bike. Let it warm up, while it's running hit the screws with some PB again. Once the bike gets to running temp pull the carbs back off and use the impact driver on the screws. The aluminum that the screws are set in will heat up and expand just enough more than the screws so they should come free for you. Then replace them with allen heads as suggested.

Wet them with Kroil and apply it once or twice a day for 2 or 3 days. They will come right out. Ed
