78 kz idle high on its own

first post first bike i have a problem with carbs or vac i think i put the choke all the way up to start regardless of the temp and idle smothes out after a while but when i try to take the choke off it revs to 4k carb slides are set at 1mil pilot air 1 3/4 turns it also idles high if i lean it on sidestand is this a float level issue it might run smoth for a bit with choke on but then idles its butt off when i come to nuetral to stop this is embearassing and hard to control cant spell sory guys need help bad

the reason it is idling high is that it is lean on the bottom usally caused by partial blockage of your pilot circuits you will have to take your carbs off and clean them properly if that doesn't cure the problem then when you get the carb's back on spray brakeclean around the intake manifolds when it is running to see if there are any air leaks but the way you have described it it sounds like pilot circuits to me.

check your float level, would make it lean all over.
