Mikuni 34mm Flat Slides on 81 KZ750
06 Dec 2008 13:21
I have an 81 KZ750 with everything stock except the ignition, pipe, and pods. I am looking to put a different set of carbs on. I would like to put on some Mikuni 34mm flat slides. What do you guys think?? Is it possible?? I don't know if they will fit or not.

I think 34mm flat slides would be more than a bit of overkill on a stock 750 motor :woohoo:
34mm CV carbs such as Mikuni BS34's would work good though.

like steel said they might be a bit much for that motor stock it would give you lot's of top end but your drivability down low would suffer those carbs were built for high compression high reving 4 valve motors. the 34 cv's would be a much better choice, those carbs came stock on early model gsxr 750's that idled at above 3000 rpm.

first off, welcome since this is your first post.
now we need pictures of your bike.
there will be different opinions for your question.
the 750 had 34 cv's from the factory but the flatslides are a MUCH better carb.
it's kinda like putting a 750 cfm holly on a 305 motor.
just soggier then a day old bowl of corn flakes at idle or cruise speeds but runs like hell at top end.
best bet?
i would go with a good set of 26mm carbs instead.
flatslides would be a bit of overkill on a stock internal motor 750.
they are overkill on most stock 900-1000 cc bikes.
ok, we answered your question, now make with the pictures!

What they said. Had a bitch of a time getting it to run clean through the entire range. Never going to be a smooth mix. It's all about WFO...
Have to keep the R's up a bit more than I like around town.
Unless your planning a full Mod Motor now, go for the BS.
Having these carbs are making me think of the bad things I can do to my wallet with the rest of the motor mods needed to take full advantage.
I'm debating putting my BS back on.
Go figure.

I guess all that makes sense. It is my brothers bike and he wants to add more "cool" things to it. I think he is jealous ever since I finished mine up this summer. Thanks for the help guys.

I updated my avatar. I guess I forgot to throw a picture in there when I registered.
Are the BS series a round slide carb??

Yep, a round slide constant velocity carb, AKA "CV" carbs.
