Rejet for 810/pods/pipes

Hey guys, do you think I should change the jets in my bs34's from a 95 Police? I'm going 810, with Mac pipes most likely, and pods. Should I just wait and see if I can get her running good with just air screw adjustment?

if you have it running good for pods and a header, it should run just fine after the 810 kit.

No, it's all stock now, I dont have the 34's on yet, I'm just wondering if I should think about rejetting right away after I do all that.

Ya, I would try and get the jetting for the header/pods right before you do the 810 build. That way, you will have it set up right when you get it put back together. ALso, if you screw up in the rejetting before the build you will know its the jets and not engine problems you screwed up on during the build. Its just alot easier to narrow down the problems after the build when you know the carbs are set up right. I am not 100% certain, but i believe that on my 810 build i used 140/70 jets in my 34's with pods and a non-baffled header

Right on, I wont actually be able to do that since I dont have 750 pistons, so its not really an option. I guess I'm gonna have to just try the jets that are in the carbs already, and try to get her smooth on the air screw. The stock jetting for a KZ1000 should have enough flow to supply an 810 though I'd imagine, even with the increased CR.

The need to rejet should mainly depend on increasing air flow, not increasing compression ratio. When you add pods and a 4-1 pipe on a stock 650 you should rejet. When you increase CR you pay for increased octane fuel avoid detonation. And make sure your carb boots are in good shape (no cracks to introduce a lean condition) and the carbs are clean and properly working. I just pulled the pistons from an 810 kitted motor to find a severly pitted piston in the number one cylinder, and a new one is $135.

Yeah I know I'd have to rejet my stock carbs if I used them, but will I have to rejet bs34's which are from a kz1000? I'd figure there'd already be enough fuel supply in there for the 810.
