I'm going to look into having a billet one made, maybe 10  !!

Do you have a cap to use as a model?  Do you have access to CAD tools?  I could help with dimensions or I could try to draw up a model for you.  That sounds like an interesting project.
I have a NOS cap for the early large tank, It doesn't fit because the lock section is too long, there is a difference in the  rear mount too , I was thinking  i should be able to use it to get all the dimensions but i don't know how to use solid works or Autocad. I think the guy I know had lazer mapping capabilities, he makes aluminum parts for the aerospace industry. I would be awesome if i could obtain the file for the CNC machines, It would certainly work out cheaper. I can see this being expensive just for one, that's why I was considering having a batch made. Any help would be very much appreciated. Does your Z1R have the correct cap ?

Well I thought I had one, but it turns out I don't.  I do have a 20L tank, so I went back to your other thread and compared the pictures.

Turns out I have the early tank with the sheet metal riser.  Who knew?  I did have an '80 tank with the flush mount, but I sold that one.

Is the cap completely different, or just the hinge/mount piece?

Edit:  You answered my question in the other thread.  The caps are very different.  I would really like to know the story about these early 20L tanks.

I have an NOS cap for that tank  !   I think the early tanks were rushed through because of the dismal size of the original tank, With nearly 1000miles between cities here in Australia it was a huge problem back then, They were basically a town bike, so Kawasaki rushed out the first tank and got it all wrong, the D2 and D3 had  a much better design for the cap and mount.
They should have made more caps though   !!!!!
I wonder if someone could send you a later cap or could draw one up in solid works or autocad, I'd really like to see what i would cost me to have them made, although I may have trouble getting lock parts, would possibly have to make it like the early 900 caps without a key type lock...

Checking Japanese site all over, but can't find what you're looking for.

I'm there every now and then to look for what I need as well. So not everyday, but on it every week. But yeah, unicorn.

Thanks mate, Much appreciated...

I actually modified an old Z900 cap yesterday and got it to fit, I'd have to make a rear hinge , but that's not to hard, It sits a bit high though....
I'm trying everything...!

Found this, but not sure if this is what you're looking for. Also bit pricey.

Nice shocks. With the shipping, shops or businesses won't ship, but if you know someone in Japan you can get almost anything shipped..
