I don't think that's a D3 cap. The D3 cap is more rectangular. Seems like an A3/A4.

Thanks for looking but thats a 1980 Z1000MKII, KZ750E A3/A4 style cap, the D3 cap looks like the original 1978 Z1R cap but it has lower sides and a different hinge system..

Have you looked to see if Doremi or PMC make a reproduction? I looked a bit on japan.webike and I found that they both make a D1 cap, but I didn't see a D3 cap. It's a bit tricky to find the actual catalogs for Doremi and PMC.

Yes, I searched everywhere I know including PMC's own site, loads of Japanese company sites, I have a friend in Japan looking as well, They only reproduce the D1 cap currently. One deterrent is that Japanese prices are extremely high for hard to get, second hand parts... Here's Doremi and PMC's sites if you'd like a look....

That's the one I have, It has the longer lock section at the front, its for the first model replacement large tank, I need the cap for the later large tank.
Thanks for looking...   I'm thinking of using a dual endurance style filler, it works out much cheaper. I recently found the cap I need but the guy wants 400 euro, that's  $630 AUD, silly price..
I also found out that the early large tank cap I have is NOS, its never been on a tank....
