Pogue's throttle body bore treatment is and excellent mod for that bike.

Better still fit the 83-85 GPz1100 throttle bodies with 1000J inlet rubbers and get exhaust crush washers from Jeff at Z1 Enterprises. They are larger ID than the stock ones which restrict the exhaust ports.

Lorcan,

Have you worked with megasquirt fuel injection at all?

I'm putting together a KZ with 83GP11 DFI and have been looking into megasquirt and the soon to be released microsquirt computers. The monoshock conversion on the bike eat's it's share of space so the microsquirt looks very promising. Igniton is built into the computer as well.

No Larry I haven't, but before I say anything else I just want to say thanks for some great info on porting! Much appreciated by everyone I think, even if like me you still get it done for you at least we have a better idea of what we are talking about. Thanks.

My alcohol 750 was fuelled and ignited by a DTA EXP48 system running 8 injectors. Last time I ran that bike was 2001, it ran a best of 8.69 @ 162mph at 760cc. My 810cc streetbike has the stock ECU and a Powercommander 3 patched in from a ZX12R. This works great (and keeps all the stock ECU functions such as the tank display) but is coming off over the winter in favour of a DynaPro V500 ECU which has the benefits of progressive boost control, progressive nitrous control, extensive datalogging, mappable ignition etc. Megasquirt is cool but doesn't have all the features I want.

larry,

i'll hopefully have some input on the MS system here in a few months. i'm going to be helping wireman get his monster turbo bike up and running. i'm planning on using the MS to control fuel, backed up by a dyna ignition.

if we go with the full MS, then eventually we'll run ignition as well, but i think we're going to end up on the micro initially.

i hear you on the mono-conversion eating space. my street bike will be as tight as what you are looking at.

i'd started a thread a while back that was a general FI thread, and had a little input. i figured that i would pick it back up once we started working on the hardware.

I cant' tell you how impressed I am with that turbo 750. Just awesome!

I have a stock GPz11 ECU but it's flakey. Last time it was run in a bike, it might work fine for a couple days and then all of a sudden just stark skipping. It might do it for a few times and then be good for a day. Just can't trust the darn thing so I started looking for an alternative and came across the Megasquirt.

I'm going to need and add on board to run the low impedience injectors I have and the Micro does control ignition. From what I understand, it's the latest code, same as the latest mega system, only in a nice tiny package...PERFECT!

Thanks for the link too. I'll be sure to check that out.

Pogue's throttle body bore treatment is and excellent mod for that bike. I can get their phone number if you like. They're in Oklahoma and still will perform the mod. I spoke with them about 2 months ago.

I have all the info on the wiring harness mod to put the ECU into race mode.

Thanks for your help Larry.
Done the race mode mod and have the adjustable boos. I'll look out for some 1100 throttle bodies as per what Lorcan was saying.

The flyback circuit is built into the MicroSquirt (along with dual coil drivers) and no add on board is needed. The MicroSquirt was specifically designed for motorcycle use.
