martijn Topic Author Offline User Posts: 160 Thank you received: 1	started up my standard KZ900 bored to 1200cc and it made quite some noise. Especially under load it's I think , knocking. Is that possible??? or do I have to use higher octane gas?? As mentioned everything is standard except 1200 cc thanks Martijn

wireman Visitor	yeah thats an old air cooled engine,if its hot outside it could be a problem.they are more tempermental than water cooled engines.try some 89-91 or maybe retard timing a little bit,but not too much or it will run hot. goodluck,happy wrenching!

Apparently the camchain was ratching one tootht of the intake cam, caused almost valve bounce. Happend when doing some maintenance, putting the bike away for a month and wasn't paying any attention to it. Tonight another try!!! Thanks for you replies Martijn

martijn Topic Author Offline User Posts: 160 Thank you received: 1	No damage. Now I'm struggeling to keep it running at idle speed. I retarded the ignition and under load at 2000 up to 3500 its still knocking. I'll try tonight a higher octane gas. martijn

Can anyone tell if a KZ1000 bored to 1200 cc with allother parts standard (except 4 into 1) can run normally without knocking??? compression is about 160-170 PSI!! Martijn:angry:
