The ZR7 looks to have the rubber in the mount rather than the crankcase as in my "J" so it looks like it would be straight forward

Thank you very much. This is great info and what I was hoping for. I'm not going to custom on the build, stockish powertrain is my goal.

Well, my budget is variable but not in line with my chief financial officers budget (the wife) LOL. Looking for more of a stock swap that does not require extensive modifications. My car building days are behind me now and the bike stuff is more hobbyish than anything else. I have dabbled in the Harley world, as well as Suzuki GS, Honda Interceptors and triumphs. Other than riding some kawis I never did the deep dive with them, but I have always had a soft spot for the green machine.

Thanks for the photos.  They reminded me that some engines have rubber mounts on the front, and others at both front and rear.  Maybe it's the shaft drive bikes with both?  ZR-7 seems to be front rubber mount only, but the rear mount looks different compared to the earlier frames so not sure there.

A guy on the UK Z650 site did a ZR-7 engine in a 650 frame, same engine spacers but had make a tubular brace between the lower frame rails. The other mod he had to make was to grind material off the lower portion of the sprocket cover to clear the frame.
