No, you don't need to remove the shaft from the basket.  You can leave the assembly together and simply lift it out of the case after splitting.  I usually pull the plates out to make things a bit lighter to manage and to check and clean the basket and plates.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

ok, the clutch tool is one tool I don’t have and if I didn’t need it yet I was gonna save those few dollars. I’ve watched some old Kawasaki videos where they take apart a Z1, video quality ain’t great but it’s informative.

Check the teeth on the gears to make sure that broken tooth didn't get into and damage your transmission.

I will, I have a two week vacation coming, gonna get all my ducks in a row, I’ll post pics when I start and I’m sure I’ll have questions, I was gonna look at the trans during this to make sure nothing was damaged by that gear tooth or just time on the road.

Check the number on Partzilla.  If the same number then the same o ring.

What bout the big o ring inside the oil pan,it's in between the pan and motor, I think it's the same size as the one for an oil change, can't find a number on it on partzilla

Update: I’ll soon be putting the motor back in the frame. Tore the block completely apart ( first time). Found the broken tooth, two dirt dobbers, and a zip tie in the oil pan lol. Other than that luckily no damage to the trans. Took my time and read my manual and watch videos, so fingers crossed I’ll get the top end on and everything will be good.
