Got the pins and buttons from 72mm MTC pistons, and want to use them in Wiseco pistons (circlips) for the same application. Is it safe? I noticed the MTC pistons have oil holes in the pin boss, and the Wiseco do not?

I wish this Numbskull did!! He ruined a new 72mm piston! I bought a parts lot thinking they were good. Not! Buttons are good You might have to machine wrist pins? Without seeing stuff in my hands, It is doable.

No need to machine wrist pins. I'm using the ones from the MTC pistons which are shorter to fit the buttons in a 72mm bore. And of course pin diameter is the same since they both fit the same connecting rods.

See the holes in the pin bosses in the underside picture of your piston? The MTC pistons have those, but Wiseco does not. I'm worried that the buttons may restrict oil between the pin and the pin bosses, and Wiseco pistons don't have those holes to compensate. See what I mean?

Here's an interesting article on piston pin oiling: www.jepistons.com/blog/wrist-pin-oiling-styles-explained

Looks like the Wiseco pistons have only the groove in the pin bore, but none of the other oiling options. That makes me worry even more that adding the button may decrease needed oil entry from the outside of the pin.
