There is absolutely nothing wrong temporarily fixing something that cant be mended properly. Like low quality cast aluminium, carb, a handle just the way you use ductape. But as a final solution on engine blocks, rims and more.
I am just waiting for the first post with a picture of a brake caliper "fixed with JB"

On something like an engine, the aluminum heats up, expands and the JB doesn't follow suit exactly the same way, JB also softens up when saturated with certain liquids (additive rich gasoline comes to mind) also if there is a seepage or leak, you have to scrape/sand/bash/blast or beat whatever magically managed to cure AND stick loose then prep your surfaces etc. so much easier to just do the job right in the first place: TIG/MIG or even a good deep cleaning, and using a hard aluminum solder like alumi-weld to mend the breakage (which is $3-5, plus a plumbers torch) or $20 or so to get it welded

It and a little crazy glue fixed my kill switch block. 2 1/2 years later, it still works. It's good for some things.

I'm praising it. Don't jinx me  . I took care of the old man down the street for four years. He had a cloud hanging over him all his life. You could feel it. Finally the hospital kept him and his family took over. I swear it rubs off. A year later, I'm still double checking things.

Edit; if I put all the bikes that arent kaws or current riders in my sig it would get rediculous even to me

Thanks for your help. My list of bikes/projects is only a partial list as well. It's a good problem to have I guess.

Some repairs JB weld is good for, some not, but I've done a ton of different projects and repairs with JB weld. I actually use it 2 or 3 times a week for different things. My old 78 KZ650, the one with 168,000 miles on it, I mounted the Dyna3 box under the tank, and it rubbed a hole in the tank. I sanded and wire brushed and cleaned it real good, put JB weld on the hole and it's still perfect. This has to be 20yrs ago or more.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Old 1978 KZ650? Ouch! I think that statement just snapped me into reality! I’ve always thought of my 1977 KZ650 as my new bike. My old bike was my 1963 BSA. Did time really slip by that quickly? :( Ed

When I see my reflection in a window I always think - Cool, there's an old fat guy riding a bike just like mine. The I wave to him and he always waves back. Ed

I wonder if slopping some MEK on the JB Weld wouldn't make it fall off. Just be careful because MEK will take clear coat off instantly where it touches and soften plastic. Don't breathe the fumes either.
