Carbon buildup on valves

How do I remove the carbon buildup from my valves. They are in great shape except for the carbon. I have tried soaking them in Chem-Dip overnight with no luck. Any suggestions would be of great help.

Thank you.

If they are out of the head. Tape up the stems and bead blast them. Glass bead won't hurt them. Been cleaning valves that way since back in 1974!!!

If they are out of the head maybe try oven cleaner. Just don't use it on aluminum parts. Ed

What Jay said ,
Just use gloves and safety glasses.
The valves can get warm and that carbon will fly.

I am not a big fan of gloves anywhere close to spinning machines. When I was learning the machine shop trade, back before enclosed CNCs like we have now, we were taught no long sleeves, gloves, watches rings, anything that could get caught and pull your hand into the machine.

Very , very true.....include ties and pens in shirt pockets etc. even safety glasses need to be secured behind the head, I have seen (twice) pairs slip off the nose only to be launched quite rapidly into other things or people by spinning tools.

In a machine shop class I took in school the teacher had a white sweater in a glass case over the door. The right sleeve of the sweater was totally unraveled and the sweater was splattered big time with dried blood. It had belonged to a student who didn't listen about wearing loose clothes. The teacher said the school board would not permit him to display the mangled finger in a jar of formaldehyde or he would have. Ed
