Will a KZ650 Exauhst fit a KZ550?

Does anyone know if this swap can be done? I need a whole new system for my '80 KZ550c and rght noe the only options I have found are MAC, and I hate MAC, and Campbell's X-Pipe, and I can't afford Campbell's X-Pipe.

If not, have anyone here made there own exhaust?

Have you checked out Dennis Kirk? They sell a Sito brand crossover pipe for about $55 and the mufflers go for about $240 for the pair. I'm not sure but I believe the spacing on the header pipes from a 650 is different than a 550. Maybe they could be "reformed" to fit. Are you excited about Americade yet?

Cylinder spacing is different, so no, the KZ650 exhaust will not work on a KZ550.

Yeah, I looked at the Sito brand and probably would have bought one, but it doesn't include the header. I need the WHOLE thing.

And YES, I am excited about Americade. Just three more day of work, one day to clean the bike and pack and I am off on Vacation!!!!! WooHoo!!

Maybe you could fleabay a set of header pipes? I've had no luck finding OEM header pipes. (I haven't tried a Kawi dealer as I'm sure the price would cause me to faint)

yes, the 550 is narrower, but that doesnt mean metal wont bend, i recall seeing a set of widened(just bent a bit) zx600 pipes on a kz650 (TWT?), maybe they would fit the 550 with even less work

I have a Kerker in fair shape , No Baffle but it does have the cone ,, couple dings in it Price would be right .. Need to let go of some of this stuff ,, U2U me if ya interested ,, it is a real ear killer had it on my 81 KZ550 for a short time , Shoeman:)
